A young, sleepy sloth.
Lifestyle
As Maddi grows, her caretaker starts to notice that sometimes, she becomes covered in magic. It takes form around her, often appearing as a pillow under her sleeping form, or a blanket to cover her; but when she picks it up, it immediately disintegrates back into dust. This happens more frequently, until Maddi evolves into Scen.
Scen EX still naps most of the time, but she has longer bouts of wakefulness. Too big for a sling now, she often drapes herself over her caretaker's shoulder, eager to see what her caretaker will see. But soon, her caretaker realizes that what Scen EX sees isn't what they see: somehow, Scen EX sees more. When they go out to pick magical plants, Scen EX doesn't need to rely on the shape of the leaf or the length of the stem; she can see the magic in the flower itself, luminescent even among a patch of a hundred types of wildflowers, and point it out.
When asked, Scen EX insists this isn't a gift unique to her. It is not her eyes and mind that are different, but the way she looks. When Scen EX sees something, it is not with a quick, distracted glance. She observes things with all her senses and attunes herself to them completely, until she knows and remembers them.
Some Scens try to teach this to their caretakers as well, with varying degrees of success. Other creatures often peek in and join. Many times, Scen EX just falls back asleep mid-lesson, and they must convene another day.
