Lifestyle
These eggs are usually found floating in either fresh water or salt water, a small distance below the surface. The exact depth will depend on the water pressure. Because these eggs are quite common and found in a large number of different environments, they are often subjected to a variety physical stresses. The armor-tough shell, however, protects them.
When near other eggs of the same type but of the opposite gender, they tend to link together as though they were magnetically drawn to one other. In such cases, they generally grow up to be mates.
